Help with buying a new Digital Camera

Time to upgrade from the 3 mega pixel camera I've had for the past 4 yrs. With all that is out there now anybody have any good tips on what to look for when buying a new digital camera for under $200?

ive always liked my canon elph

i have kyocera sl400r

its like those slim casio deals

its 4 m pixel bought a few years ago now but works very well and easy transfer to PC

only complaint would be battery life.
